Eclipse

The annular eclipse just occurred a few minutes ago. Had a great view here in Albuquerque. Elko was supposed to be a good spot to see it as well. Pretty neat to see! Took a pic of the weird shadows the eclipse made through the tree in my backyard. Kind of the pin-hole camera effect ...

I am in Elko and went to Lamoille Canyon for the viewing. Could have been better but the hike up to island lake also kicked my ass.

A few years back there was a total eclipse in Beatrice, Nebraska where our family farms. The Homestead National Park set up tents, chairs and other things to handle the expected crowds. Provided bus service from town (about 13.000) due to parking problems. Every hotel/motel/BNB within 75 miles (including Lincoln) was sold out. People were parking in ditches surrounding our crops. The eve brought in communication trucks with wifi capabilities to handle cell phones. The day was cloudy but you still had the effect. Big boost to the local economy.
