We Can Do Better Than LPIN

LPIN is such a boring acronym. I get tired of typing it.  We need something new. Something clever and cool. Something that represents us all better. Whoever comes up with gets a free........... twinkie.

LSIA or LSA. The “I” isn’t important

Legal Sex in America?

This is hard
A Lady can ask any price and the client can always walk. If you accept her offer it's on you so don't bitch about it!

PCS Paid Consensual Sex came to mind, but that kinda lacks in both clever and cool categories. That’s ok though, I wouldn’t know what to do with a twinkie anyhow.

The label “People Enjoying Prostitution” might lend itself to a forum called “PEP Talk”. Something we could all use from time to time  :)

I think you need to keep the L for Legal or Licensed in the word.

Maybe something like Legal Intimacy Provider or LIP

Not the best.

Also, maybe you need the fact that it is Paid for. Such as Legal Paid Courtesan or LPC

Not the best

How about "Professional Courtesan" or PC which is analogous to "Politically Correct" or PC  The presumption is that a professional would be licensed and legal.

I agree, why limit it to Nevada.  OK, so  "Rachel Varga is quite a PC."

If you want to consider expanding on the board name you could go with something like:

LIFE
Legal Independents Fulfilling Experiences or Legal Independents For Everyone.

CON: Courtesans of Neveda.  OK, maybe not use the acronym?
It's more about the journey than the destination!

This is a topic I've long considered that actually has considerable depth to it. Alright Rachel, I'll jump in here with both feet and risk 'gettin' smitten' as well as cussed behind the scenes. The quick summary before I give You the details is this: You and the other Ladies who provide their services at the Nevada Houses (not streetwalkers, escorts, or internet specials) are the FUTURE of what's going on here. That said, let's consider the past, present, and future. CWMC, Prostitution, and Courtesans.

CWMC originated with the early growth of the internet and was an acceptable term in that time. The WM portion of the term is flawed as follows: 1. It carries negative connotations that an expanding group will tend to recoil from. 2. The mainstream folks - who don't necessarily participate - yet have a vote when it comes to keeping this legal, will not feel comfortable discussing this in a positive light when it has a (perceived) negative label.

As far as the CWMC website goes, it was managed for years by a terrific Gentleman who would probably still be there were it not for His health issues. The COY program and the site itself were inseparable. The subtle annihilation of it's great purpose (COY Program) is something akin to buying a good used car, putting a new paint job on it, then parking it in the yard, putting it up on blocks , and taking all the tires off of it. What a waste.

Prostitution- the "P" word. Here is where You have actually sought input. While I don't like the term myself, it is a legal term used by law enforcement AND the Judiciary itself therefore it could take generations (or at least the right case to reach the Supreme Court) to change it. That does not mean that this group has to use it in defining it's purposes and activities. Remember, only babies with dirty diapers like change and a lot of change is already happening. It will be huge for the LPINawards site, coupled with this great site to 'assume command' of the purposes and activities of the Appreciative People who make up this community. Reaching out for ideas and new names is an excellent idea. Seeking to apply them too quickly could cause a 'trainwreck' at a time when some people are probably already seeking to cause that since they are losing their position, prominence, investment, etc. Holding off on re-naming things for a year or two, (til the current changes have been digested) may be the wisest course of action.

Courtesan - here is a polite term that this group accepts AND the mainstream would likely find far more acceptable. Here is where variations and ideas could be applied. COY is an excellent acronym.

So, as the CWMC boat sinks (or at least capsizes) and is left behind for a few "Users" "Pennypinchers" and "Fear-trapped", Yes We must look to the future in several ways including naming. Long-term, I hope the following quote from the Presidential election of 2000 will be remembered here. In Al Gore's concession speech (after the US Supreme Court elected Bush by 1 vote in deciding the Florida hanging chad issue), He said "I do not agree with the decision of the Court, and I will respect it". My point: As this community moves ahead in cutting edge discussions of human sexuality (and having lotsa fun along the way!), along with crowning an annual champion, may those on the losing side of any contest or issue (yea it includes me) be respectful and supportive of the winning side even if it's by a margin of 1.

                                                                Respectfully Submitted,
                                                                            Lee

(now You can fry me or point out failures)

                                                                              :)

You make a number of great points Lee. I agree change is difficult and there are always going to be those that resist change. There certainly isn't a need to rush anything, though I think most here will agree that some changes have been long overdue.
I hope that this board and activity here continues to grow organically as more like minded people participate, people with positive attitudes about LPIN as a whole and people who can disagree in a civil manner.
