Geez, that's a hard one. As a kid I went to Disneyland numerous times, the last being 25 years ago when my son was 5. It's closer to Nevada and you also have Universal Studios, Knots Berry Farm, as well as Hollywood and Beverly Hills. I went to Disney World once just after it opened about 40 years ago, and we rented a car and drove down to the Florida Keys, to New Orleans, through Mississippi, and back to Orlando in 3 weeks. If you're not gonna go beyond the theme park I'd say Disneyland and if you're doing an extended trip go for Disney World and see some of the South.

Disneyworld hands down, there is no comparison in my opinion. Disneyworld is much bigger, has newer rides, and more theme parks like Epcot which is one of my personal favorites. I've been to both multiple times, 2009 was the last time in Disneyworld and I was there Christmas week which was pretty amazing as well.

If you're going for the Disney experience, I would recommend Disneyland. But if you're going for the rides, I would recommend Six Flags - the Disney roller coasters are so lame.  :(
It's more about the journey than the destination!
