This is it! ------ Courtesanship.

The (seemingly- which is why I posted it here for discussion) perfect replacement for that awful "P" word (prostitution). Courtesanship - The act of providing courtesan services. What is needed now is for a legal case at the Federal level to use the term and thereby confer legitimacy upon it. It would afterwards be imbedded in Case Law and subsequently available for other (and lower) courts, along with law enforcement and then the General Public. The negative connotations that cling to the word 'prostitution' inhibit the public's ability to accept (vote in favor of) "courtesanship". The root word 'courtesy' was likely chosen for courtesan since the function is basically a Lady extending a courtesy to a Gentleman. Please don't underestimate what Lurkers may think of this term also. A noted reporter (I think John Stossel) very recently did an article supporting legalization of "Courtesanship" using, of course, the outdated and negative "P" word. Perhaps He lurks this site. Since WE are truly 'in the trenches' of this function, We have the ability to discuss it with a cutting edge understanding. Please speak up. What do You think of it??? (Interesting note: When I type in 'courtesanship' , the little red squiggly line appears under it indicating that the software doesn't yet recognize it as a word - Let's change that!)

Actually, Lee's idea could be extended to the Nevada state legislature for an update in their code.

These days are the times of "political correctness".
The NV code could be modified as follows:

Prostitution  Courtesanship

Prostitute    Courtesan

The advantage would be there would be no change is the laws governing Prostitution Courtesanship.

Plus, there would be a public discussion on the subject, raising awareness.

The only disadvantage would be potential organized opposition to the code change, causing Prostitution Courtesanship being abolished.  There is risk in any change.

Who lives in Nevada that wants to contact their political representative?

(Sorry, I didn't finish my post initially.)

I hate the word prostitution. I don't like whore or hooker either.

I actually just blogged about this topic, because after my segment on Jerry Springer aired, I got a lot of "negative" comments of people calling me whore, prostitute, ho, slut, hooker etc.
I have never found any of these words offensive and I think its up to the ladies that provide sexual services and their supporters to destigmatize these words.
It isn't the words that need to change, its the derogatory perception of them...

Years ago my wife, my sister-in-law and my daughter were touring houses on the cul de sac.  They were going inside, looking around, picking up match books, someone bought a t-shirt and in general just having a giggling girl sort of day.  There were leaving one facility, walking back into the parking lot when one of the working girls opened a window and yelled out "hey, you hookers get back in here" which was the funniest thing ever to them.

What Lexie said is right on the money.

It’s an individuals choice to be offended by words. In reality that’s all they are and when we CHOOSE to be offended by them that is when they have power over us.

A word on its own cannot harm you unless you let it
A Lady can ask any price and the client can always walk. If you accept her offer it's on you so don't bitch about it!

I saw about your segment on the bunny boards after the fact and was bummed I missed it; Jerry always cracks me up and I'm sure you all represented yourselves well.

I agree completely. The single most powerful freedom we have have is the freedom of choice. We can't always choose what happens to us or the actions of others, but we can always choose how we want to react and feel about it.

You deserve it. I mentioned this at a brothel the other day and they liked it too. (Good to see this has been getting some discussion this last week while my internet connection was fried)
