Reopening brothels
Congratulations to Vanity Affair for winning Cortesan of The Year.
As a new member of the LPIN board, one of my missions is to meet with Governor Sisolak to argue, opening the brothels soon.
After conferring with my attorney, I have some excellent arguments for my presentation.
The down side is that it could be a month or two before I get his audience.
I'll keep y'all posted for dates and times.
In the mean time, please feel free to reply here with any creative arguments that I could bring to the Governor as well.
Hold my beer!

That's great news, actually!
I really hope you can get the answers we've needed for about 4 months, now! Good luck!

DJ,
I sincerely wish you the best of luck & don’t doubt your good intentions.
Bottom line the Gov right now is trying to figure a way to keep casino’s open with the daily avg of new virus cases in Nv over 1K per day. If the cases don’t start coming down quickly don’t be surprised if the Casino’s are shut down again.
Brothel reopening’s are so far down his list of concerns they aren’t even on the list at this time.
Don’t mean to be a Debbie Downer but we will all be Lucky if they open by Thanksgiving.
Feels like the last party I had will be the last party I have...

Thank you DJ for representing and advocating for the brothel community. Greatly appreciated and I'll be happy to take care of you when the ranches reopen.

DJ will be a lucky guy and so with the rest of us if he gets results. Good luck with that one. No doubt it's probably political. Yet, I'm with Sixty, it will be an uphill climb. You are bucking unsurmountable odds. I doubt if the Governor is going to be too receptive to reopening any time soon but if so, I will be pleasantly surprised.

DJ, during these challenging times, in order to remain open, many businesses have had to adapt to meet the changing regulations.
Perhaps you could propose to the Governor that the brothels offer curbside service or maybe the larger ones with pools could have "parties al fresco".

Were you planning on talking to the governor alone? I think if you brought a couple other people, perhaps a couple or a working lady (I don't want to give the impression you need to bring a delegation) it might leave a better impression.
Please stress that the ladies have to watch out for their health and have been doing so since the days of AIDS. Sanitizing should not be much of an issue. COVID, after all, is a respiratory disease, and appears to spread via aerosols moreso than dirty surfaces.
BTW, does anyone know what happened to the brothels during the Spanish Flu outbreak? I know LPIN wasn't legalized then, but the health situation would be the same.

Not to piss in the punch bowl, but maybe you should first meet with the brothel owners and see if they really want the publicity? I'm thinking maybe they are wanting to keep a low profile through all of this.
I would check with several of them before proceeding... this could be a very slippery slope that might bring regrets down the road.

Not a bad idea. In preparation, send some correspondence to the brothel owners (both big and small) to get their take on it and see if there is anything they could suggest?Chicagobob link wrote: Not to piss in the punch bowl, but maybe you should first meet with the brothel owners and see if they really want the publicity? It might be as simple as CB says; they're just hunkering down in hopes that they can quietly reopen later this year as restrictions loosen, hoping the bars and casinos can absorb most of the shock.

I agree with those that are saying proceed with caution, as well as conferring with bordello owners and management, to get their take on the situation. No need to swing wildly at this trying to hawk a vacuum, or a used car to the Governor.

DJ, you don't need permission from anyone to speak with the Governor with your concerns about getting the huts to reopen.
The keep quiet thing doesn't work with him, that's why they had to sue the state recently on behalf of the tens of thousands of workers who had not reveived a dime from the PUA fund. Imagine spending 6-8 hours a day on the phone getting nowhere and not receiving any relief for the last 3-4 months because of a broken system. Trust me, those guys saying to keep quiet and not rock the boat aren't from Nevada like myself. Get that idiot's attention!

I wish you luck, but unless you.have some real serious political influence that we are all.not aware . I will be really surprised if you are not shot down. That's assuming yes are actually able to actually get a sit down with the Governor of Nevada.
Like it or not I just don't think the brothels being closed is really a big concern for him. But never the less I wish you luck in your quest.

I don't really have a dog in this race since I've been partying in other venues, but... to represent an industry without their knowledge or consent is incongruous.

I don't think the brothels will open up for a long while. I have seen some girls moving into escorting, others to onlyfans. Positive news is the Astrazeneca vaccine should be out in October. You can also volunteer if you want to vaccinated earlier.

It’s 2,000 miles to Nevada, we’ve got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark and we’re wearing sunglasses.

DJ,
Check with the brothels to see what they are doing.
You might want to work with them to present a united front.
