......legally bought pot for the first time today, it became legal in CA 3 days ago. It's a ridiculous prohibition that has ruined too many lives in the past 90 years. Of course the AJ Sessions wants to roll it back to the good old days, and start locking people up again.

So now that it’s legal will they release all the people they currently have locked up for it?

I don’t have any info specific to CA but petty pot crime is generally a major factor in prison overcrowding.

There are many medical marijuana dispensaries in California where people may obtain a variety of good quality cannabis products for relief or treatment of specific ailments.  I can't smoke it because I have asthma but there are many recipes for high quality cannabis infused cookies, brownies and other deserts.

Marijuana will be similar to alcohol in California now where people may be cited and arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

Driving under the influence of pot will become a bigger issue with it legal, just like alcohol.  I don't think the medical folks yet have a good idea of the effects of pot.  Alcohol effects seem to be straight forward.  Pot effects seem to be more of a variable, depending on the person, more like Rx drugs.

My understanding is that anyone who was serving time for simple possession or sale would be released. The problem now is there isn't yet a test to tell when the pot was consumed, but they've been blitzing the airwaves warning not drive high. Combining alcohol and pot can cause major impairment, and is never a good idea.

I have a friend developing a system to test impairment in a general sense.  It isn't specific to alcohol or pot or etc.
We will see haw it progresses.

Because of the inability to determine what levels of pot consumption constitutes impairment and a way to detect it the legalization of it should have been held off until testing had been developed. I guarantee the test would have been figured out long ago if the pot advocates had this requirement but now it’s up to the government because as usual the cart was put before the horse.
How many more impaired drivers will now be on the roads? Honestly probably not many more as those who already used and were irresponsible are still doing it and I doubt that now that it’s legal there will be a large increase in users from previous non users. The problem as stated now tho is prosecuting the abusers of pot because of the lack of a reliable test

Anyone that owns or wants to own firearms should think long and hard about using MJ.  You have to identify yourself to purchase which can, in theory, be compared to your answer on the 4473 (firearms purchase) form.
