Heck no, just starting. Doing the physical and starting to study for the exam before booking the actual flights. I've heard this speeds things up a bit
I really think it will be fun and give us something else to do on vacation.

Yes. (One never loses their license.) However there are FAA bi-annual flight checks that are also required. My last one was long ago.

Which ground school are you using? I would recommend king school then buying a gleim for your hard core studying.

Let me know if you ever have questions! I could talk about flying for days! If you need recommendations, I would be more than happy to ask around. I would say get done with ground before you solo, it just makes life easier.
