Remember, cholesterol is the basis for hormone production, and a large component in the brain.
Low cholesterol = low testosterone?
Low cholesterol = dementia?
High statin drug sales = high profits - no question.

It's only bad if it collects and sticks to your blood vessels, is it not? My total cholesterol now, at age 66 is much less than it was at, say, age 40. I eat less - although I love things like eggs, meat, cheese, all the supposed no-nos. I just eat less total food. I also exercise more! Since I retired I have no excuse, I have all the time in the world. I live in the midwest, yet still get out all year round to walk, and also lift moderate weights. I take krill oil and olive oil - all in moderation.

Like your article says, a certain amount of fats, including the so-called bad fats is necessary. At my age, I'm concerned about the testosterone level and have been reading other articles saying  that saturated fats are necessary for testosterone production.

I'm always wary of any kind of extreme diet advice - never eat this or never eat that. Everything in moderation.

There is a whole lot more to this...LDL is not the same thing as cholesterol. It is one of several lipoproteins that carries cholesterol through water compartments...

Cholesterol is a lipid soluble compound that serves as the building block of steroid hormones like testosterone...it’s a component of low density lipoproteins (LDL) but actually a comparatively small part.

Lol I’m trying to think of a one liner way to say this and I can’t. But I promise they are not the same thing!!
