I will leave the obvious stuff like Ruby Mtns, Rib Cook Off , Virginia City to those who can do a simple search of the Internet.

How about a couple of things to do from a local who has been everywhere in Northern Nevada.

1. Steak dinner at Paradise Valley bar on Saturday nights. You will not find a better $20 meal..period! Local beef, stiff drinks, cozy bar with fireplace, locals and tourists alike sharing amazing food and drink in this great little town.

2. Get snockered at Los Comadres on their margaritas. Reno's best margaritas, served on a summer weekend under the patio or at the bar.

3. Go camping and exploring at Big Creek. Quiet, secluded big country near the great little mountain town of Austin.

4. Go on a mine tour near Carlin. During the summer, they have tours of some of the largest open pit mines in North America. See where gold comes from.

5. Taco Tuesday and Coronas at Blitz in Sparks. Come see what the locals have known for years. $2 Coronas and tacos. The tacos are legendary.

I've been wanting to explore more of Nevada's Ghost Towns. So far the only one I've been to is Rhyolite when I used to go up to the Shady Lady. I'd like to see more of what's up north the next time I'm up that way, this web site seems to have some good spots to check out http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/nv/nv.html

Last trip when I was in Virginia City there was a sign saying mine tours.  That might be fun.

Years ago I went down in 1 in Leadville Colo. They had to leave a portion of the gold there so as not to weaken the shaft.  That was cool seeing that.

The coolest, strangest place I've ever been was definitely the Salton Sea, an abandoned inland sea in California. I'd love to find places like that in Nevada...I adore ghost towns.

Whenever I make the drive out to Elko, Thunder Mountain in Imlay is always interesting to see. I’ve never stopped to take a look. It always looked creepy as I drove by, but there’s some history to it.

So that’s what that freaky looking building is! Driven by it 100’s of Times always wondered but always in a hurry to get where I’m going
