Being European I am into F1. I watch it with some friends. I watched it when I was little but haven't followed until a year or two ago. Anyone into it and want to talk about? I am Team Mercedes but I like LeClere and Ricciardo.

No, I don't watch NASCAR so don't turn this into a NASCAR thread. Start another one for that.

Would love to get into it, its tough here since were not raised on it so its not organic.  Like soccer im an Arsenal fan, but that is a tough fan base here.  I go to motor cycle races here in norcal since im close to saga n Monterey.  Bang

I go thru “Motorsport” phases. I like F1 as it’s always much more than high speed. I like that the courses are all different and requires an entire different skillset than NASCAR or even Indy cars. I haven’t watched it or any Motorsports for a while. I’m sure I’ll get into it agin in the future as I do with others

Learned something new today...

As a kid, I would read motorsports magazine.  I remember the likes of
Juan (Manual) Fangio (five world championships) and Jean Bahra.

Later I realized I would never be a driver, given my slow reaction times.  :(

These days I wish I could study the cars, especially all the electronics onboard.  Ever look at the steering wheel?

Have you Rachel, or anyone, ever been to a F1 race?

Count me as a long time open wheel fan. As a kid I would watch CART and F1 on ABC wide world of sports, still watching.  Been to many Champ Car events and one F1 race. Nigel Mansel from F1 and Paul Tracy from CART were my favorite. Kimi Raikkonen was my last favorite. Love the speed, the tracks, the advanced technology and the worldwide appeal of F1. Viva la tifosi!

I'm not really into F1.  Now if we're talking about F5, I use that key a lot when I'm on my computer.  :D

When I was in my pre & early teens I was into all types of racing... F1 (Grand Prix), GT (Grand Touring), Endurance racing (i.e. 24Hrs at LeMans), Indy car & drag racing. Favorite drivers were Sterling Moss, Phil Hill &, of course, Fangio. Favorite cars were the D Type Jaguar, Ferrari's & Ford GT's. Then I got into baseball & lost interest in race cars.

It's hard to get races on tv so I found f1tv.com and it's $10 a month so friends and I can watch it.

Speaking of Tifosi. LeClere won in Italy for Ferarri last weekend and it was a sea of red tifosi.

You don't like Kimi Raikonnen. He has the worlds driest humor and doesn't like stupid press questions. The last race he was hit by Verstappen. Now that guy is one ugly asshole.

Kimi Wisdom:

"The helmet has a special meaning for many drivers. How important is it to you? - It protects my head." ~ Kimi Raikkonen

"I just love the American spirit of racing. It feels just great to get involved with that." ~ Kimi Raikkonen

Martin Brundle: “Kimi, you missed the presentation by Pele.”
Kimi : “Yeah.”
Martin: “Will you get over it?”
Kimi: “Yeah. I was having a shit.”

Interviewer: “Is it true that sometimes you’re bored in the car?”
Kimi: “Only when I am in front by a country mile, like in Melbourne last year. Then you are thinking about other things or you’re playing with the buttons on the steering wheel.”

#1 Quote
Interviewer: “The most exciting moment during the race weekend?”
Kimi: “I think so it’s the race start, always.”
Interviewer: “The most boring?”
Kimi: “Now.”

I use to watch F1, years ago, but network TV here in the US tend to focus on Nascar and Indy racing, so it was a pain trying to keep up with the F1 series over the years.  I still occasionally catch a race when it's on cable and I still recognize some of the more well known names, but that's about it.

Kimi - Dry Darth Vader Humor
Riccardo - Funniest Guy
Leclare - Cutest

Verstappen - F1's Biggest Asshole

I used to really enjoy it when much younger, in the 80's and early 90's. Had some cool cars with the Marlboro McLarens and the JPS Lotus. And the Ferrari's blowing up all the time :D . Had some great drivers, Senna, Prost, Rosberg and Mansell. Mansell was so boring though. Senna still the greatest driver ever in my opinion.

Since the cars are so high tech nowadays, plus it is so corporate with races anywhere that can afford them, I think it has lost its appeal (for me at least). Still takes a special kind of courage (crazy) to drive them though (or other elite level motorsports like the IOM TT races). Still want the Brit teams to do well of course and it still remains a place of great automotive innovation.

When I was young I use to love to watch baseball and open wheeling racing! Guess I've kind of grown out of both but do miss those days. Wouldn't mind going to a live open wheel contest one of these days.

Now I much prefer visiting bordellos. The happiness affect lasts much longer for me. If you think about it a bordello and race have much in common. When i start a party with a lovely lady, I may need to gain pole position could possibly encounter some dangerous curves, high chance of squealing (or crying lmao) and hopefully a blowout at the end!  Call it motorsport fucking, rather than racing!

Hamilton is a fantastic driver, I was really happy when he won his first. He had some great races with Vettel. Must admit never knew he has 5 let alone possibly number 6 this year.

Lol Chuck. Don't get stuck in the tight chicane, aim for the smooth lines, manage your pitstops. Just watch out for the stewards inquiry  ;D
