I'm 73 years old & have never had a Icee, Slurpee or a Slush Puppie. We did have Sno-Cones when I was a kid. They're not quite the same as Icee's or the other frozen treats but, for a kid, they sure were a nice, cold, sweet treat on hot summer day.

I had one of those and they are good. Snow cones I mean. You have to try an Icee. It's worth it. I promise.

I might do that some day. The one I'm interested in trying is a Hawaiian "Ice Shave" or "Kona Ice" that they serve at a local Hawaiian restaurant called "DaKine." Ice shave is kinda like a sno-cone but is made with shaved ice instead of crushed ice.

The one problem I have with most any really cold items is the Brrraaain Frrreeeze headache!  :o

When I was a kid, there was a little neighborhood store that had a soda fountain.  The old woman that ran the place would hand shave ice for snow cones right in front of you.  The gizmo that she used was like a wood plane - she had block ice delivered daily.  If you wanted a Coke, that too was hand mixed with selser water, including shaved ice.  She also sold "penny candy".  Yes, I'm that old!  : :)

During the summer, most 7-11 stores have Slurpee machines.  I think the Slurpee is better than Icee, but they're all good on a hot summers day.

For those who haven't tried the Hawaiian shaved ice, that's one of my favorites.  If you ever visit Vegas, Lampert's Ice Cream Shop inside the California Hotel/Casino makes them.  You'll find a lot of Hawaiian tourists frequenting that place too.
