We are certain this has been explained, but before we cast our vote - we just want to be clear of what happens next. We assume that this round will narrow the field to a "final round" with fewer choices.


Is it typical for this round to result in a large number of ladies with 1 vote (the person who nominated them originally) and a number of others with 2 or more who go onto the next round? 


Are we just overthinking this?

You are essentially correct. Many of the Ladies who we’re nominated will receive a vote from whoever nominated them. Some will not as they may have been a second choice nominee since the first choice of the voter was already nominated.
This round will narrow the nominees to the final five in each category. Depending on the number of voters participating this round it could take just a few votes to put the Lady in the finals that’s why every vote is important.
After this round which ends at the end of the month we will vote from the 5 finalists in each category to determine the winners which will be announced at the banquet. Only winners are announced not runners up etc

The Preliminary Voting Round starts 3/4/18 and ends midnight 3/31/18 PDT.

Then, the top 5 candidates accumulating the most votes in each category (COY, BOY & RBOY) from the Preliminary Round will proceed to the Final Round.  The Final Round begins April 4 and ends midnight April 30, 2018 PDT.

The 3 winners will be announced at the LPIN 22 Awards Banquet Hosted by Mikey on Friday July 20, 2018 in the greater Reno area.  The 3 winners receive Crystal Art Awards and all 15 finalists receive framed certificates.

The Nominees are posted as the Nomination Round progresses so a voter may nominate another Courtesan or Brothel if their favorite has already been nominated.  However, when the Preliminary Round starts a voter may change their support to their favorite candidate. 

When there are a significant number of candidates in the Preliminary Round it may split the vote in certain cases; this may occur if several Courtesans from one brothel or several brothels from one area are Preliminary Round candidates. 

An awards committee annual meeting discussion topic at IB & Sheri's picnic is the consideration of a blind nomination round, so voters won't know the nominees until the round is completed.  Another topic that will be discussed is the proposed limitation of Finalists to 50% of the Preliminary Round candidates.  This is especially evident in the BOY category where 7 brothels are voted upon in the Preliminary Round but 5 proceed as finalists which is 71%.  The Preliminary Round is supposed to significantly narrow the candidates for the Final Round but it has been inefficient in the BOY category.  Voters are encouraged to attend the awards committee annual meeting on Saturday July 21, 2018 to provide their ideas and suggestions.

47 valid ballots have been cast in the first five days of the Preliminary Voting Round which is 42% voter participation!  The committee hopes to have at least 65% voter participation which would be another 25 ballots.
