Re: LPIN 2018 Awards Nomination Round is OPEN
Obviously, all you folks complaining about a rule change while knowing that it will be addressed at your morning meeting and changed if everyone agrees, didn't just live through an arctic blast with temps so cold it could freeze the balls off a brass monkey!
It's round 1 of the C*MC / LPIN Awards. That means:
- We get to recognize amazing ladies for the wonderful work they do.
- We are that much closer to gathering a great group of LPIN participants together in Reno
- Spring is right around the corner.... screw the groundhog, if it's round 1 - warmer weather is close!
We get both sides, and if we make it to the meetings we will let everyone know what we think of the change, but for now we will bask in the future warmth of the awards and thank the committee and everyone involved with making this happen!

Thank you Firefighter!
BTW, I like this new rule..
Quote
The list of "Nominees for 2018 Courtesan, Brothel & Rural Brothel of the Year Awards" will be posted at the conclusion of the Nomination Round, so no candidate will have an edge. If a continuous list were posted and updated during the Nomination Round, candidates who are nominated early in the round would be repeatedly seen by voters throughout the nominating round; therefore, it's an undesirable advantage.

With this change will we have a chance to nominate a different Lady if she is already nominated?Chicagobob link wrote: Thank you Firefighter!

In the past I would scan the nominated before making my nomination so it wouldn’t be wasted on a Lady who is already nominated.
If it give us the option to nom someone else then this rule is fine however if it doesn’t then I’m not a fan. I honestly don’t see what advantage a Lady gets in later rounds if her name is listed early. I don’t go back and keep track of nominees after I made mine and doubt it’s a big thing others do either but whatever.
If this doesn’t allow an alternate nom then the list of nominees will be reduced

Under this procedure the list of nominees may be smaller; however, registered voters will nominate the candidates they really feel are worthy of the COY, BOY & RBOY awards. Nominating secondary candidates simply because a voter's primary candidates have already been nominated may not be productive to the contest anyway. Fewer candidates in the Preliminary Voting Round may impede a nominee from reaching the Final Voting Round with a minimum number of votes too. An excessive number of candidates in the Preliminary Voting Round may result in the voting being very thin. Therefore, a Preliminary Voting Round following a blind Nomination Round may have essentially viable contenders for the voters to cast their ballots. Despite this aspect of a blind Nominating Round, the procedure is more equitable to all candidates because all nominees will be announced simultaneously at the conclusion of the Nomination Round.

Ladies being nominated helps them and is an honor to many that they are validated. If a voter has two Or more Ladies he feels strongly about then randomly picks one but that one has already been nominated his nomination has been wasted and a Lady he feels just as strongly about may not get nominated.
I really don’t understand why the committee felt this change was needed. It will promote less Ladies and thus give less Ladies recognition.
Rule changes of the past felt were good and in the best interest of the awards and Ladies. This one I feel hurts the Ladies by eliminating many who deserve recognition

You are over thinking the whole thing Firefighter. That particular rule change was not necessary.? Its a silly Rule change. You are so worried about the lady reaching the voters. That is really only an advantage in the final round. Maybe to a lesser extent in the preliminary round. Both rounds the list is obviously published. In the nomination round guys will just nominate the lady they like. You are really over thinking this. But whatever not my call to make.?

I think we're ALL going to be surprised by the end of nominations. This is voting in its purest form - no bias whatsoever. I think too that some of you might be surprised by who gets nominated.

Our/your job is to nominate the one YOU think is worthy. That's it.. You don't pick your 2nd or 3rd choice because my 1st is already on the list. If that's the case then we should all nominate our top 3.. Having it blind is better and the best will rise to the top. Then we all vote on whom was nominated.
Too much overthinking and crying if our #1 is not the winner.

I agree the best will rise to the top as it always does. That statement there completely contradicts the supposed reason for this rule change. It’s total BS that a Lady will get an advantage if her name is shown nominated sooner.
All this rule does is cut down the number of Ladies that will get nominated then therefore reduce the number of Ladies who will get a little recognition which we all know they get very little so taking away this is just another slap in the face.
Please tell me if the best will rise to the top how having 50 nominees instead of 30 will change that? It won’t! The best will rise to the top as always but if there are 50 at least there are 20 more Ladies who if they do choose can use it as a marketing line or it puts their name out to guys who haven’t heard of them and if nothing else take a little pride in that they were publicly recognized for their efforts.
This rule change is stupid overthink and serves no purpose other than to take away recognition for the service of a number of Ladies

I agree 100%. Recognition is very important to the ladies. It may also help their "business" to be nominated. I would think being nominated is good advertisement .

I also an in disagreement with this rule. There was one year in which I felt three ladies equally deserved to be nominated and two of them had been nominated early on but I waited til near the end of the round and the third lady never did get nominated by anyone so I was able to get her nominated. If I remember right, she ended up making it to the final round. So this rule defeats the purpose of promoting the ladies. This year I have two ladies who I feel are very equally deserving.

Back when Kristine was still active she told me she knew her chances of winning COY were extremely low. But she liked seeing her name on the nomination list. She was honored to be nominated because she knew someone appreciated her. My point a lot of the ladies don't expect to win and some don't really care. But most of them like being nominated, and I don't see the harm in knowing the names of those already nominated. A large list of nominations. Is not going to effect how a person votes in the preliminary round. The voters are not even necessarily going to vote for the lady they nominated unless they nominated their personal favorite. So I agree with 9er having a large nomination list just to give a lady a little recognition won't effect how I or anyone else votes in the next round. I will do what I did every other year I didn't make a nomination, scan the list of names rather it be 10 names or 100 scan for a name I know if none don't vote. It just always worked out at least one girl I know got nominated. Last year only 1 girl I knew made the list.SixT9er link wrote: I agree the best will rise to the top as it always does. I may as well throw in my 2 cents for whatever it's worth ...LOL.
If we want to give more ladies recognition, perhaps next year, the committee should think about giving each voter the option of nominating up to 2-3 candidates? That way if a voter has more than one favorite who they think deserved being nominated, they won't be left out. Either way, I'll always vote for my number one nominee, if she makes it through to the finals. 8)

This is only the second day of nominations and there are already several COY nominees. There were 33, 28 & 34 COY nominees in the 2015, 2016 & 2017 contests respectively, so it appears that the 2018 figures will be on par if voters continue to cast their ballots.
In the 2015, 2016 & 2017 contests 44%, 39% & 40% of the voters cast nomination round ballots. The majority of voters didn't cast nomination round ballots for whatever reasons. 10, 5 & 10 ballots were cast for the same COY nominee in 2015, 2016 & 2017 respectively; several voters nominated the same Ladies so maybe they didn't view the list of nominees.
I believe the 2018 nomination round COY nominees may not be any less than previous years. The blind nomination round may stimulate more voters to cast ballots because voters won't know if their candidates were nominated yet. Furthermore, the nomination round would recognize more Courtesans if a higher percentage of voters cast ballots.

You can have a blind nomination round if you want one FF, but respectfully the argument that having it made public some how will somehow give a lady an unfair advantage if she knows she has been nominated early on in the process is BS ?? They have zero advantage in the next round.
Again respectfully you all need to man up and simply say the committee chose to make the nomination round blind this year. If you all don't like it make like a sweathog and stick a rubber hose up you alls nose! You are free to not participate. No need to make up some reason that has more holes in it then Swiss Cheese. Rather or not the list is made public now or on March 4th it isn't going to change who I vote for next month. I know who I am voting for if she makes the list if her name is no there I have 3 or 4 backup choices.
Just say the change was made because the powers that be those running the contest want to do this way moving forward. I can respect that a lot more then some lame argument about an unfair advantage that doesn't really exist. The only round where a lady knowing she is up for the award can use that knowledge to her advantage if she chooses to use it is in the final round.
In the finals you only normally only have 5 girls to choose from. Meaning most of us holding a vote no longer have our personal choice in the race at that point. A finalist if she wants the win bad enough might reach out to the undecided voter if she knows they haven't voted yet. During the nomination round there is no advantage. In the preliminary round the voters have already basically made up their minds for that round or will as soon as the list is released. The only thing your rule change is doing is maybe increase participation in the nomination round. In the big picture though the overall outcome of the anual popularity contest because that's really all it is won't change. I have never booked a lady because she won a trophy or was nominated for a chance to win a trophy. I always choose the girl because I like the way her ass looks everyone and there 5th cousin knows how I roll.??

COY is not courtesan(s) of the year. There can be only one. Just pick your favorite and don't worry what others are doing. I can see that if the nominations were visible, some might not think their lady has a chance, being intimidated by the headliners already listed.
It also adds to the intrigue and excitement! ;D

Sighting past statistics of how many multi noms there were because those voters didn’t review the list prior to voting doesn’t matter. Can you tell me how many of the Ladies that were nominated were second choices by the nominees because they did review the nominees prior to voting? NO you can’t.
Again a Lady gains no advantage if her name shows up the first week of voting. The odds are actually good that one of those first Ladies will win and you’ll find that out this year with your rule change. The rule change only will serve to diminish the number of Ladies who get recognition. By how many? Unknown but it will
Goes back to the best will rise to the top when voting begins so the number of noms doesn’t matter other than to give Ladies a little recognition which this rule has taken away from some
I’ve said my peace, I’m done. I feel sorry for the Ladies who won’t get nominated or the recognition they derserve because of this rule change.
