Does Amazon intentially delay "free shipping" items?

#1

Post by Slednx »

Been ordering from Amazon 7-8 years at least. Whenever possible, just click "free shipping" at check out. Have never been a Prime member, my reason was that I am not in a "rush", don't need item in two days, get it in 3-4 days anyways. That was until the last year it seems.

Now, it seems in stock items take 4-5 days or longer before shipping, then the usual 3-4 days to arrive. I think it is bad business to "force" us to buy Prime, often times if possible I will just go and buy off ebay than play their games.

I'm a Amazon Prime member and since the pandemic hit, deliveries have varied anywhere from 2-4 days.  Prime members have been complaining about that for awhile now too, but they claim it's due to the increase in orders due to the pandemic.  One-day free deliveries use to be available in my area for some items, but even that option often takes an extra day.

A lot of stores/manufacturers offer free shipping to complete with Amazon, so if the price happens to be lower buying direct, I'll often skip Amazon.

Amazon prioritizes essential items for now.

They used to ship the prime orders the same day if not early the next morning. Since the pandemic, not getting notified of items leaving the warehouse until 2 days later.

They sure seem to push out Amazon made products fast compared to other products.

I worked at an Amazon FC for eight months, from October 2018 to June 2019, and they are a shitty company to work for. I do have Amazon Prime, and I don’t know if it’s worth it anymore. I used to have a discount for working there. That expired the end of December. Fuckers shitcanned me two weeks after my birthday, the bastards.

Yet I still order stuff from there.

Prime includes video streaming  no extra change, and the free shipping is nice.

As for how quickly it arrives obviously since March its taken a little longer. But it seems depending on what you are ordering is a big factor. The last thing I ordered was supposed to take 2 weeks. It actually made it in a little less than a week.

You can go to walmart / target for same day pickup.  walmart just launched a $99 free shipping program if Amazon isn't cutting it.

Last year I bought something from Amazon.  They scheduled shipment a month out.  So yes Amazon seems to selectively delay shipments.

They do now but their business relies on quick delivery. If it's not fulfilled by Amazon then there is no guarantee it will get there in time.

Perhaps it's all those Ebay customers slowing the system down.  I recently purchased a gimbal for my action camera off Ebay and it was shipped by Amazon. Surprised the hell out of me.  A seller selling on Ebay and shipping through Amazon?  That's new to me.

That is strange. Maybe the use both to sell and sent from their own stock at Amazon warehouse through their fulfillment. Amazon probably has some deal with ebay.
