Venmo and others just die. Googles domination is beyond overwheming. The problem with youtube is not youtube. It's the content. Most of it sucks.

Youtube dominates the other sites because of the algorithms.  They are very good at finding content that will keep the viewer watching and the reason they get advertisers.

My only complaint with Youtube is that like a lot of other media platforms is that they are censoring content based on what they feel to be correct or not.  Many argue that the have the right to do so because they are a private company. Others argue that they have formed a monopoly.  The viewer has the right to watch what platform they want but the other video platforms do not have the amount of content that Youtube has to keep the viewers watching long enough to capture as much advertisers.

Capitalism works with some government oversight.  Too much oversight and you have socialism, total oversight and you have communism.

Lol. High maintenance heh?

It's like social media, everyone has a platform but most of the people on social media are clueless and just propogate ignorance and hate. Youtube is the same. There is not a lot of real talent. I don't count instructional and videos that you learn something. There are some genuinely funny people but most are lame. The trend now is to use "I did this or that" very self centered. You have to dig to find the gems.

I like some of the dumb stuff Uncle Roger, there is just too much that sucks.

I have to respectfully disagree with you on youtube.  Youtube is my go to place for learning how to do things. Everything from videos on car repairs to computers and different programs and how they work. Also great for looking at items you want to buy but are not sure about and you really don't trust reviews on Amazon and other places.  Being I like going to the casinos, I watch a lot of slot videos to see how new machines are that I might want to play. then you have the entertainment aspect. Great music video along with old TV shows and even news programing for news shows you can't get because of not having cable TV.

Right, I didn't include instructional videos and things you can learn. I mean all the "original" content. Most of the big names are not creative.

I use YouTube half the time just to listen to music and to see some of the old concerts posted. There are some nights that I do end up going down one rabbit hole or another on YouTube.  I have zero use for cable or sat TV anymore.

I can relate to that Boone.  Some of those old concerts are fun to watch and nice to have background noise while doing other things.

There used to be an alternative video sharing site called Vid.me, but it’s long gone now.
