We received our first Pfizer shots today.  So happy  :) .  Florida is open to 40 and up now.

Off the top of my head, I can think of three reasons:
  1. Spite:  Depending on your state, some people had their businesses shut down while other larger businesses were allowed to stay open.  Some elected officials were caught violating shutdown orders (Newsom, Pelosi, Lightfoot) by patronizing businesses that were supposed to be closed, and in some cases they were the ones who forced the shutdown.
  2. Mistrust:  During the election some politicians said that people should not trust a vaccine developed during the Trump administration.
  3. Spite + mistrust:  In at least one state (NY), police raided people's houses if they had too many people over.  You can call it an effective way to reduce the spread, but it's also an effective way to paint the government as the enemy.  And you never help your enemy.

As I said, there will be no vaccine card needed. Texas will follow suit and then pretty much the rest.
