Just curious, but what does a ~1400$ scope do that an average scope does not? I only know firearms to the point that I can safely use my pistol, but I'm interested.Prospector Bob link wrote: Got mine! Spent it on a new scope for one of my rifles! ;D

I didn't spend the whole $1400 on the scope but I did get a high quality, 5 star reviewed, precision instrument that was on sale at a substantial discount. It's going on an equally high precision rifle. No sense in putting a cheaper, barely adequate scope on a rifle that can shoot gnat's eye groups. You buy glass equal to the weapon.JimDiGriz link wrote: Just curious, but what does a ~1400$ scope do that an average scope does not? Rachel's reply mentioned only a few things you look at in a scope. You look at workmanship guarantees too. How well does the manufacture back-up their products? The scope I bought has a no-questions-asked, lifetime guarantee.

Mine is in my bank, along with my tax refund. It will be going toward my Nevada vacation.

The bit about gnat's eyes reminded me of a Clint Eastwood movie called Heartbreak Ridge. Eastwood plays a Marine and pretty much everyone in the movie tries to keep up with his acting skills. And there's this quote:Prospector Bob link wrote: I didn't spend the whole $1400 on the scope but I did get a high quality, 5 star reviewed, precision instrument that was on sale at a substantial discount. I received mine via direct deposit, but I'm still waiting to get "Stimulated". ;D ;D Although, I did donate a portion to Saphire's go fund me. I've known her for a number of years now and it's sad knowing that she's going through another battle with cancer.

I think that's a great use of the money, especially with the promised match. I understand there are many that have lost jobs and need it just to cover living expenses, but helping each other is always a great move.Dr. Who link wrote: I received mine via direct deposit, but I'm still waiting to get "Stimulated". ;D ;D Although, I did donate a portion to Saphire's go fund me. (although spending it on a scope still stimulates the economy as well, if its American made, all the better)
I used a big chunk of mine to fund a trip back home to visit my family and set up a memorial service for my mom. We had to cancel her funeral last year due to COVID, so its time to payback once all of us are vaccinated in May.
