BROTHELS--AS INTERESTING TO LOCALS AS A TELEPHONE POLE?

I watch this feller's videos of Vegas. Recently he went to Ely and sounded almost shocked with as close the brothels are to everything else. Funny, it's only the visitors who think that way. Locals could care less. I'm sure most the locals in Ely know of the brothels---Yet it's just no big deal.

I watch Jacob's Vegas vlogs too. He was live streaming his recent road trip so there are several videos up on his YouTube channel. He also drove through Well's, but I don't think he knew where Donna's and Bella's are located so I don't think he went out of his way to find them. He should have done more research before hitting the road ...LOL

Well according to the video, he also went inside but I'm not a member and don't intend on joining just to see something, I've already seen 100's of times in a past life. If he was amazed at looking at the brothels in town, I wonder how amazed people from Ely would be who travel to Vegas and see women out on the streets in full view peddling their wares or the homeless on the streets?

Well he spends a lot of time making the point about how close it is to a school so he doesn't do us any favors.

He's so stunned by that but he's from Vegas which is not like the rest of the state.

He's usually pretty good but he was over reacting making it sound like the brothels and school were close to each other. Those who watch the video will understand the brothels are not near the school. I wonder what his answer would be to those such as me who are shocked that in Vegas, they sell it right out on the street along with trucks advertising women driving up and down the strip? When you think about it, there's a lot to be said about living in a smaller town----Just not that small. Carson City? Perfect!

It also depends on how much a person wants to virtue signal. He correctly points out that even closer to the middle school are casinos whose presence clearly cause delinquency in our impressionable youth. And I'd bet $20 that along that stretch there was at least one restaurant that <shudder> served alcohol.

Actually more surprised the middle school is in the middle of their "downtown". That brothel owner and spa owner sure likes the color red and black, pretty ugly. Also, would be more concerned about the kids being closer to like 5 casinos.

Talked to the manager of the Big 4 last year and she said they didn't get many and did not want locals in the brothel. I remember seeing girls working the street across from Hollywood High School one rainy early morning many years ago. Also look at all the "massage parlors" in suburban neighborhoods. Better to have regulated brothels. There are probably 10 times more brothels in and major US city than in the state of NV. As shown on the video there are casinos much closer to that school than the brothels are.

I don't know if she was telling me the straight story, but she said "locals were trouble." Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but she said they get a lot of truckers and tourists. I'm sure there are a lot of hunters up there in the fall, and going by all the motels in Ely there must be a lot of people passing through.

I remember being at the bar at Sheri's one time talking to some locals who said they went there a lot to drink but not to party. They were having fun eyeing the girls and socializing at the bar. I don't know if this is still true, but I read that Sheri's now has a 2 drink minimum if you don't party. They also limited the number of drinks the girls could have at one time.

Where would you want a school ? Ely is a old western town. The school has been there for a long time. No need to waste money building a new one.

I don't see the big deal. I went to Ely and to the Stardust quite a bit in the early 90s, there were some women there I really liked. The brothels are off the main road through town, but can be seen from the main road. It's really not near the school, but I suppose "near" is a relative term. BTW, there is now a marijuana dispensary in Ely, not downtown, but on a highway leading into town.

More interesting would probably be the location of the brothels in Elko. A lot of people visit the Star restaurant, which is in clear view of the brothels, at night with all the colored lights, they stand out like a Christmas tree. I've wondered if when families go to the restaurant if the kids aren't curious about what the brightly lit buildings are. Maybe then, it's time for an impromptu "facts of life" talk!

People that live there are probably not going there and kids aren't sitting around dreaming of going to the brothel.

Like when I lived in Vegas. I rarely went to a casino.
