Dune
Dune is amazing and beautiful.
I'm afraid many will not understand it or think they do when they have never read the book. You would need ten hours of exposition to explain the Dune universe and what all the groups are doing and what the story is about at it's core.
This is not another boy comes of age and saves the Universe book. Frank Herbert said, " "charismatic leaders should come with a warning label: could be hazardous to your health"
That is the real message of Dune

Just finished watching it.
Thought they did a good job. Would have liked to see a LOTR approach & give it over 3hrs running time. It felt a bit rushed but for those who haven’t read the book it was probably done right. Just felt a lot of the underlying intrigue was left off.
My fault for just finishing the book for the 3rd time on Monday lol.
Now I need to watch it again & stop thinking about everything it left out & just enjoy it
Look forward to the next film.

I’d say if you haven’t read it already then watch the movie. Then read the book to see everything you missed. Less frustrating that way, at least for me. Like I mentioned I need to watch again & just enjoy instead of thinking about everything that isn’t in the movie that’s in the book.

It will be over four hours with the second half. LOTR follows many of the same fantasy tropes that other books do but it is the best in that genre.
If you watch the movie then read the book you will envision the characters as the movie and this is one of the few times I would say that’s okay because the chose of actors was superb.
No movie could explain the book. As I said, it’s not a hero’s journey like you think.

Warner Brother's doesn't make that decision. 80% of the film cost is Legendary pictures who owns the rights. 20% is WB. They will distribute it too.
Legendary announced that part 2 will be made. 10/2023.
