One recent study looked at various natural substances with claims for effectiveness for ED. Initially they identified 30 compounds similar to sindenafil (Viagra). Using molecular docking, they narrowed it down to the following:
a) an African plant called bangalala;
b) berberine extract;
c) osajin (hedge apple powder);
d) delphinol (maqui berry).
Products containing the various compounds are available on line. However, no one has gone to the expense of doing formal studies on any of the products.

However, a couple of other (more common) compounds have been studied that inhibit PDE5 production. The compounds are:
a) l-arginine;
b) Pycnogenol.
Going through a specific protocol, the researchers found it was slow acting, with only 5% of the men improving after the first month, but 92% of the men improving after three months.

Phentolamine injection is an alternative to orally administered erectile dysfunction drugs.

An insulin syringe is utilized to inject Phentolamine into the penis shaft approximately one inch from the abdomen.

Injected Phentolamine causes blood vessels to dilate, thereby increasing blood flow. Phentolamine injected into the penis (intracavernosal) increases blood flow to the penis which results in an erection. A man must be sexually aroused for optimum results.

Phentolamine is available by medical doctor's prescription from compounding pharmacies. Phentolamine must be kept refrigerated and transported most commonly with ice.

Note, Phentolamine should not be used as a sexual aid by men who do not have erectile dysfunction nor injected more often than three times per week, since penis damage could result.
