Ya know, I really don't remember what kind of car it was. I learned to drive in summer school drivers ed between my junior & senior years in high school... 1963. Our family car back then was a 1959 Chevy 4-door station wagon... also 3 on the tree. LOL

Gosh it was an old Ford Falcon, but don't recall the year? Manual - I learned by fire! That was with a Deuce n a half in the military :o
It’s 2,000 miles to Nevada, we’ve got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark and we’re wearing sunglasses.

My dad's 1964 Chevy Impala, then a couple of years later when he got a Datsun 240Z with a manual trans, I learned to drive a stick too.
I wasn't of legal age when I learned to drive, so when I took drivers ed in high school that summer, I ended up driving a 1972 Volkswagen Beetle with a 3-speed manual for the entire course. They ran short of cars that summer and since I was the only one in the group who knew how to drive a stick, I got stuck with that by default.

Mine was a 55 Chevy pick-up on the farm. Later, it was my first car a 1971 white Gremlin. This was the time when an automatic transmission was an expensive option. My next three cars were all three speed on the floor.

I learned to drive in The Families 1955 Golden Anniversary Chevy Bel Air car . That Car had Electric Windows and Power Steering and Brakes , Eat Your Hearts out on that One . I learned to drive a stick in a Very Old Pick up with a straight 8 engine and a Granny 4 speed .. I could drive way before I was 16 years of age .. My Favorite car That I Owned was a 65 Chevy Chevelle with a 283 and a 4 speed on the floor . It was kinda Quick 8) 8)
