FOSTA

Post by rachelvarga »

We may have to shut down the forum. I am talking with Q and consulting outside parties if we have any way to stay up. We need both sites so we are not fighting. If we have to shut down then this will become a blog. I have some ideas that steer clear of that stupid FOSTA bullshit but we'll have to wait and see.

I will let you know and please message me if you have questions.

PS. I will show ZERO love to people like HOF that are supporting FOSTA and to anyone that knows the real reason why I quit and turned a blind eye to what happened, even when I had the emails to prove it.

I don’t pretend to know what’s going on with that crap but it seems since this is dedicated to something that is legal it shouldn’t be shut down but then again that is logic and the government doesn’t deal in logic.

Thanks for the update

Maybe eliminate the ladies and brothel "Advertisements" sections? That word might draw attention.

I hope the SESTA / FOSTA attempt by the government to control our personal freedoms fails.  It would likely force BrothelLife, LPIN Awards and brothel boards to shutdown.

Kitti - what's the activity like on the "Switter" site?  Is that catching on?
We are here considering the screen name "Iron-Couple".

I have a feeling that eventually, we may be at the mercy of our own ISPs too ...you know those companies like Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, etc. that provide our internet services.  If they decide to block access to these adult sites, we're doomed.  It won't matter if sites like Switter are located outside US jurisdiction, if your home ISP decides to filter your access to these types of websites.

I hope none get shut down, but there are some local government people (Nye County) and formerly a U.S. Senator from Nevada that were against LPIN. Federal attorneys are a different ball of wax, and it would be up to them to interpret and enforce these changes. I would hope they would concentrate on the real illegal sex trafficking and not on the legal licensed brothel prostitution in Nevada. For the owners of the different LPIN brothel boards, I think they should follow Dennis Hof's brothel board and websites since he probably spends a lot of money hiring good, connected lawyers that will tell him what he should or should not do.

The thing is this. That bill is to take out Backpage, Craigslist, and a ton of other sites which are all doing what? Allowing people to post sites for illegal prostitution. I don't think anyone cares about us because we have absolutely nothing illegal. I will shut down the PM system if needed. I need to read more of the actual bill. It hasn't been sign and he might pocket veto the bill. Unlikely but there are two days left and nothing has come from the white house I believe.

I don't think it being legal will stop the Federal government from flexing its muscles and shutting it down. All one has to do is look at the marijuana industry. There are more than a few states where it is legal yet those in business of selling weed are still prohibited from using financial institutions which are all controlled by the Feds.

D.C. frowns down at prostitution and wrote the new law so there was no longer a "loophole" for those hosting such sites promoting prostitution. I can't see the hosts even wanting to take that chance, even if it happens to be legal in a select few counties in the U.S.  Who wants to challenge them in court?

It is just another example of the government "deputizing" a service provider. They've been doing it to the banks and casinos for a while now.

Hey we've got Sessions for an AG, and he's looking to be a strict "law and order" kinda guy. Seems he don't like pot or prostitution, so it's gonna be "fun" for a few more years. The beginning of all this though, goes back to when they closed down Redbook.

Read a blurb about the pocket veto. Even this isn’t simple as it would normally be. The argument can be made that Congress is not “out of session” but just on break so it wouldn’t be a veto it would pass without a signature as is the case with unsigned bills when Congress is in session. It would of course cause a legal fight that would most likely take a long time to settle.
Let’s just hope the President sees the light and outright Veto’s it. It won’t do anything IMO to stop sex trafficking or illegal prostitution, these things have gone on long before the internet and will continue without it. Hell a good argument can be made that it will make it easier for the traffickers!

Just about everyone in congress voted for it and I don't see why he would outright veto it.

I just read that the bill hasn’t even been officially submitted to Trump for his signing. I guess it has to be submitted and the ten day clock doesn’t start until then? If this is the case the way I understand it they could be holding it back so the time will be up when they are back in session thus eliminating the pocket veto option. If he doesn’t sign it then it will automatically become law without his signature. If they are playing this game trying to force his hand he may veto it just to prove he’s in control. We can only hope

I saw a tweet by @pornlaw yesterday that FOSTA is with Trump awaiting his signature. He posted a screen shot of the congress.gov site with the status indicating that it's with the president.  I haven't heard any recent update, so I'm assuming that he didn't sign it yet.

Here's the link to the status of FOSTA (H.R.1865)...

Doc,

The article I read was as if 3-4 Days ago I didn’t notice in the link where it says the day Trump received it. If he just got it in the last few days then Congress will be back from their break when the ten days expire from what I understand

Another thing I read that is a head scratcher. The Department of Justice (DOJ) had told Congress that it felt the bills would make it harder to prosecute sex traffickers and questioned the constitutionality of it because of how poorly it was written.
Could Trump possibly listen to the DOJ and veto it one way or another? A flat out veto would be the best as it seems a pocket veto will just be a delay but perhaps have the law written more clearly.

On the surface you're right. But no president is going to veto/pocket veto a "perceived" sex trafficking bill six months before the midterms.
