A patent has been issued to Fractal Antenna Systems for "deflective electromagnetic shielding".  This cloaking technology defends against detection by radar and similar technologies.

If only my car had that so I could drive fast to Nevada for a party each weekend.

Interesting observation by a pilot looking below him.  He could see a helicopter below him that looked transparent - i.e. he could see the ground below the copter.  Then, when the copter went over water, he could see the water below.  The military may already have cloaking.

I recall reading an article a year or so ago, that they were experimenting with equipping fighter jets with lasers.  So, bits and pieces of the Star Trek/Star Wars universe are continuing to become reality.
