I do like the PM system to establish a connection. After the connection is established, I then suggest a switch to email, or another means.
Maybe we should rename the PM system as a "Public Messaging" system, hinting to switch to something else for a private conversation.
Sometimes, the PM system is used for a quick discussion that is not personal, so I still see value in it.
(Plus, there is a big difference between an old ugly guy snooping in my PMs, verses a cute blonde sexy lady snooping in my PMs.)

A warning would be good.
You have to do what you think is best for the board so I and I’d believe the others who have posted will support your decision

The BrothelLife PM system is not a crucial element of the message board. It actually wouldn't be an extreme inconvenience if it didn't exist because members can communicate by email, texting, Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. Also, members can respond to another member's post and retort or briefly communicate with that person right on the open board if they desire. I know that Rachel doesn't read PMs; however, I wouldn't care if my PMs were read because I usually don't PM anything that I wouldn't want divulged anyway. BrothelLife is a fun type message board designed to promote LPIN so derogatory communications shouldn't be sent anyway. Love and hate are different perspectives to say the least. If we make an attempt to be respectful and courteous, there should be none of the problems that are predominate on that other hateful message board. Rachel's suggestion that a warning be noted when members send PMs should be a satisfactory precaution for members and instill awareness.

Not everyone uses Twitter or instragram and PM is a good way to " obtain " a ladies email address or cell #.
If someone doesn't want to use PM then so be it but some of us do.

Like under the subject line telling them that this message is not encrypted.
I just want to always make known that you should talk privately on email or twitter or whatever. We want to make sure no one has reason to float rumors around about the pms.

Rachel, I believe I'm missing some background. Are the PMs not really private because a moderator (or someone with higher access privledges), or recipient, are leaking them? Was this an issue at the "other board?" In principle they should be "private" at least to same degree as twitter, etc.

There are privacy concerns expressed by some people in large part due to issues on the other board like the ones you mentioned.
So basically it’s staying on and although Rachel and her staff could technically read them they have stated they won’t and to be safe just use the pm system for casual interaction and use the Ladies other more private lines of communication for more personal things

Ah, ok, the usual then. Thanks for reply. I always assume that a moderator will read all, or "management" at the "other other board." (That includes any XXXranch.com e-mail at the "other other board/sites") Someone inside twitter could read the DMs too, if they gave a shit (probably only the NSA does, because they are bored, and maybe a little perverted too).

Yeah I'm sure Twitter and other social media sites have access to accounts but like you said they wouldn't give a shit. Millions of messages a day anyways. I'm leaving it on but putting a warning message when you write a pm that says it's not secure.

Okay, you should now see a warning message when you compose a private message.[/size]
