With all the streaming services now there are a lot of good 8-10 episode series out there.
A few I like:
Altered Carbon, Netflix
Jack Ryan, Amazon
Amazing Mrs Mable, Amazon
Pennyworth, Epix
Yellowstone, ?
Warrior, Cinemax
Jett, Cinemax
The Deuce, HBO
Westworld, HBO
A few others I can’t remember.
Anyone watch any of these? Other suggestions?

I have HBO, Cinemax, and Starz with my cable TV package and Amazon Prime, so I have access to all of their series...
Warrior is one of my favorites.
Westworld is pretty good too.
I've watched a few episodes of The Deuce and it's okay.
The Orville is also one of my favorites and they're moving from Fox over to Hulu when season 2 starts which sucks, since I don't subscribe to Hulu.
I don't subscribe to CBS All Access, but they have Star Trek: Discovery and their latest series is Star Trek: Picard. I have season 1 of Discovery on Blu-ray DVD and it's actually a good series. I've been debating whether to subscribe to All Access, but they only have 2 original series on there that I like.

Its only 99.99 a year I sprung for it just so I could watch Star Trek Discovery season 2 was better than season 1.Season 3 the Discovery crew was sent something like 300 years in the future the federation may no longer exist.
Looking forward to Picard. supposedly a section 31 spinoff is also in.the works probably for 2021.

I like Jack Ryan. Even though season 4 will be the final season Man in the High Castle also on Prime is good Alt history what if Germany and Japan won WW2 parallel worlds all that.
Final season drops Nov 15 all 10 at once. Jack Ryan season 2 Nov 1st one episode per week.

Just finished Carnival Row on Amazon. Pretty cool
Have watched 4 episodes of Black Mirror. Trippy concepts, trying to decide if I like it or not. It’s definitely a modern “Twilight Zone” type of show. I had mixed feelings about Twilight Zone too. I guess it’s to be expected when each episode is a stand alone unique story with no character continuity. I’ll see what I think after I’ve watched all 16 episodes

I will probably roll through the final 10 episodes of man in the high castle shortly after they drop I think this week or next. Hopefully they tie it up fairly well.

Rather than start a whole new topic I am going to just bump this one 9er started. A while back. About streaming shows.
If Any of you are Star trek fans, and decided to spring for CBSAA the first episode of Star Trek Picard dropped on CBSAA just after Mid PT.
So my kinda sorta Amateur review of the new Star Trek Picard series after episode 1.
Now you can't call a series a hit after Just 1 episode. I also won't claim it will it will make all the Trek fans that hate Discovery or the alternate time line the movie reboot in 2009 mostly to get around copyright issues.
Anyway Episode 1 of Picard is actually way better than the first episode of Star trek Discovery was.
I actually like Discovery but I really didn't embrace that show really till late in season 1. Even then it wasn't till around episode 4 or 5 of season 2 where I felt the need to make time and steam the episodes less than 24 hours after they first became available.
Will have to see how the remaining 9 episodes of season 1 go. But at least while watching Star trek Picard it at least made me feel like I was watching something closer to the Star trek universe I remembered as a kid, and later on in highschool and college when TNG and DS9 were in first Run or even Voyager.
My opinion the new Picard series is more DS9 and Voyager then TNG. But you can tell the writers at least so far made an effort to not completely tarnish Roddenberry's vision. While making the point that the Utopian vision presented by TNG while it was on the air in first run. While a good dream maybe not practical.
Anyway my opinion at least after one Episode Star Trek Picard is off to a good start. I think most Star Trek fans will be able to enjoy this series even if its not exactly what they hope.
It has already been given a green light for at least a second season, and Whoopie Goldberg will be in at least one episode next season I think Stewart who is one of the executive producers on the show would like all of the TNG regulrs appear in at least one episode before the series ends tentively after 3 or 4 seasons. Would not shock me at all if Q shows up. The Borg appear I think in next weeks episode. Jerry Ryan who is still hot at age 51 will show up in episode 2 or 3. So we will see how it goes.??

It sounds like the new Picard series might be worth checking out. I'm still debating whether it's worth getting CBS All Access or not, since Discovery and Picard would be the only 2 series I'm interested in watching.
I already have season 1 & 2 of Discovery on DVD and I got hooked on the new series about mid-way through season 1. It'll be interesting to see what direction Discovery takes in season 3 considering how season 2 ended.

You could maybe get the one week trial in April after all 10 episodes drop and binge watch and then cancel. Supposedly the untitled section 31 spinoff they announced two years ago is now officially in the early stages of production. There are two other live action series in early development. One is a long rumored Star Fleet academy series. The othe other would be possibly a Captain Pike led Enterprise series. Probably taking place sometime after the events after the Cage and after what happened in the events in season 2,of Discovery. We know what happens to Pike. But there is X number of years after all that happens, gets a promotion to fleet Captian, and hands off the Enterprise to Kirk.
If that series actually happens it would be emstand alone episode format.
Lower decks a half hour animated comedy based star trek series is already set to air later this year. Almost running on CBSAA.
If you decide to actually subscribe to CBSAA. Do it through a browser to open up the anual payment options its I think I am paying 99 a year for commercial free. Its I think 69 for the with commercials option.
CBS really needs Star Trek Picard to succeed along with the other Trek based series.
The Anthology series te me a story is not a bad show either. But yes from a overall content standpoint without the Star Trek Ftwnchise CBSAA is DOA. They probably can't even match the content in there library that the soon to launch Peacock network will have in theirs. Peacock BTW will have a Battle Star Galactica series. Although it will be more like the Syfy channel series from 10 or 15 years ago. I liked the classic 1978 version a little better. Even though Trisha Helfer was a hot Cylon. The girl that played Boomer in that version was also hot. Unfortunately she too turned out to be a cylon. True though at least that version of BSG had a true ending. That Garbage Galactica 80 doesn't count. Even that got canceled and was left hanging.

If you are talking about my amateur review of the Picard Series. You are technically correct. However there is a catch you have to add CBSAA as one of your prime Channel add ons so not Really free.
Unless you are in a country other than the US or Canada then you can watch on Amazon Prime 24 hours after it streams on CBSAA.
True if you are tech savvy you can set up a foreign VPN that will make it look like you are logging in from some place in Europe and the show will be unlocked through Amazon prime, the same trick would work for Discovery through Netflix. But I ain't that tech savvy, and with my luck I would probably get caught cheat the system.
So I will just pay the 99 a year for CBSAA.
If the rumor CBS might sell the rights for star trek to NBC/universal. I will dump CBSAA and pick up peacock. But I dont CBS dumping the rights to Star Trek yet. CBS really don't have much on CBSAA other than the Star Trek franchise.
At least for now CBS needs Star Trek more than Star trek needs CBS.??

I just use Netflix, Amazon, and Disney +. I don't use anything foreign. I don't have cable or satellite because there is nothing on there but 75% junk.
Oh, and I have YouTube.
I don't use Hulu because it iust replays junk sitcoms. I have never understood the fascination with fake sitcoms.

There are some decent original series on hulu like handmaids tale, and a few others. I only know that because a friend of mine made me one of his authorised shared users. Never been on Netflix. I only pay for CBSAA so I can watch Star trek. I am a shared user on my moms Disney plus.
Anyway like I said technically Rachel is correct the Picard series is on Amazon prime. Unfortunately if you live in the USA you have to have CBSAA added as one of your prime channels. The same way you would add HBO Cinimax ext. I don't know how much the monthiy add on fee is for CBSAA is on prime my prime account is a seconday share as well. Yes I am a streaming mooch I just latch on to friends accounts and family depending on the service. ? So if any of you alls want to let me latch on to your Netflix.? kidding between the two services I am free loading on, and the one I actually pay for mysrlf I pay 99 a year for my CBSAA. I don't have time for another streaming service rather I am mooching or paying.
There is still quite a time investment involved to keep caught up on all these streaming shows. So I don't need a 4th option. I am way behind on my Prime and Disney plus shows and movies. I am currently caught up on my Hulu shows, and the only show I am currently following on CBSAA other than Star Trek is Tell me a Story, and that only has one episode left on its second season.

The Witcher on Netflix is good. Takes a couple episodes to get rolling but then it’s really good. There’s two timelines going so it can get a little confusing & all comes together in the final episode. If you like Fantasy you’ll like it

So I rewatched this, I was wrong there are 3 timelines going that all eventually converge. Just adds to the confusion a little lol
