When you think about it, going through a fastfood restsurant is not a good idea. Of couse they sanitize and wear masks but that doesn't mean anything. Just like taking temperatures. I understand they want to stay open but just say the truth. We are miilion dollar fast food chains. Don't say it's for their workers because if they cared about them they would pay them more than minimum wage.

We don't eat fast food. We haven't really in years. We do this more for health reasons although we don't eat excessively healthy

Having worked in fast food... Ya, you're taking a risk on a normal day. Worked at BK, McDonald's, Wendy's, and Subway when I was in my late teens. Surprisingly, Subway was the worst when it came to cleanliness and how long ingredients were left out.
And yes, they don't give a shit about their employees. I think the only chain that is above industry standard when it comes to pay is In-in-Out.

Stopped by a Berger King instead of my favorite local drive thru that was 10 deep in cars. Upon pulling up to the window, a girl wearing mask and gloves stuck a plastic tray towards me for my money and to return my change then my order and drink. Normally I don't do fast food but the occasional restaurant. You are right about Subway. Our local one closed the dining room and it's a takeout only but does not have a drive thru.

Going to the supermarket is probably not much safer with this air born virus but unless you have a prepped bunker it is unavoidable depending on how long this thing last.

It's crazy because they are wearing gloves and not changing them in between orders. So, they are just spreading germs.

Try to bundle all the errands together or pay a little more and get it at the market with your groceries.
Wear a mask and gloves, write your grocery list on a piece of paper (then you don't have to touch your phone and stuff it in your pocket), after you load everything in your trunk throw out the gloves in a garbage can, wipe down your hands and purse (if you took one with you).
Wash your hands as soon as you get in, remove clothes (woo hoo) and shower.
Unload groceries and wipe them all down and toss out the bags. Wipe down the door handles you touched and the counters with sanitizing wipes and wash your hands.
Stay safe!

Dang Alexa,
You have an awesome routine. You would make the CDC proud! I haven’t left my house forever and just order groceries online. I’m enjoying my laziness.

Very true!
I wish I could say the same for my dad, he has decided if this is what’s going to take him out then let it be. Then raids my antibiotic stash because it’s going to help for some reason.
As a public health major, I think you are a prime example of an educated member of the community.
An interesting read concerning COVID-19 is Sweden’s success rate with their social distancing and education platform.

Hopefully your father educates himself about over-the-counter items that help harden his system so he is less susceptible to even getting the virus.

I love raising canes, but there is not one where I live.

Oh, I have tried with him for years. We’ve had talks about how z-packs are not antivirals. Also, how there are different types of bacteria that are resistant to some things. Back in his dairy rancher days, he would give himself a shot of cow antibiotics. He is an absolute mess, but has a Master’s in Biochemistry. He is a very stubborn Texas man.

I haven't eaten out in ages. Might be part of why I've lost 20lbs in the past month. I do like fast food, but having worked at few in my late teens, I know how bad they can be even under normal circumstances. Haven't been willing to risk it since not many people have been taking social distancing seriously. Even if I self quarantine in my truck, I hate driving sick.

I am not surprised your father doesn't listen to his daughter. It is called the "powdered butt syndrome". Meaning, if a parent raised someone, the parent is definitely not going to listen to the child or take their advice.
While an antibiotic for an animal can sometimes be the same as for a human, the dosage is definitely different (1,000 lb cow vs. 200 lb man). My dad gave us kids penicillin as a precaution back when a Rx wasn't needed. My cousin, who trained as a nurse got after dad.
The problem with antibiotics is that they kill the good bacteria along with the bad bacteria. The solution to fix a now bad stomach environment is to then load up with good bacteria (called probiotics). Most people don't, and they suffer in the future.

Exactly, I’m just hoping he doesn’t develop a resistance to a certain antibiotic for the sake of his health in old age.
On the topic of gut health, one of my favorite Ted Talks is about how the Gut is practically the brain of the body.
