Holy crap, we are getting hammered by storms, high winds, and so on. I have never heard just a constant rumble of thunder. Was looking out the window and lighting hit like a hundred feet away. Crack! This is the most exciting thing since we went into quarantine. Okay back to the apocalypse.

We have earthquakes back in Romania. That is really scary. In 1977 there was a 7.2 for 55 seconds and in a city with hundreds of concrete apartment blocks made by the great communist government collapsed. Killed 1500 but probably more because they the government lied about everything. Parents told me about it.

Pictures of earthquake damage.

Building still standing that are damaged but usable cannot be sold and they have a red mark on them.

This means this building will most likely collapse in a major earthquake.

Interesting that in southern Arizona they have their "monsoon season" during the summer.  A lot of lightning.  They shut down all the telescopes and close the roofs.  (Many universities have telescopes there, including at Kitt Peak, but the summer is off for many universities, so it isn't a problem.)

Hams have to disconnect their their antennas.  One ham up the road from Sheris in Pahrump was doing the same.
Rachel, tighten your seat belt.  I'll help.  :P

I’m amazed the government doesn’t just condemn the buildings and have new buildings erected.  What people would willingly live in a building ready to collapse  :o

There's too many. Whole areas of buildings that are hundreds of years old. Must be a thousand apt blocks. It's not feasible and not a worry at the moment. 1977 is lifetime away in politics so when the next one comes we'll worry about it then.
