I'm a Utah resident and have spent many years exploring the deserts of Southern Utah. I hate to say it but the Bureau of Land Management (can't say BLM because it might get confused with something else and I would get hate mail) can kiss my ass if they think they can stop me from going to the monolith mentioned. I think it's pretty cool and the idea that travel to it will hurt anything is just another attempt at government control, they just don't want us on their desert. It's going to hurt the bighorn sheep, what are they going to do stand there and piss on it. Come on let's be realistic and cut out the liberal bullshit. If you check a little farther you will see that the guys from the TV show Diesel Brothers have already been to it and stood on top of, it's pretty obvious the damage that was done. Oh, and I forgot to mention. When I go to these places I sometimes travel in an all terrain vehicle and I carry a gun. Sometimes an AR-15, and in 50 years of carrying that gun I've never gone out and randomly shot people in public places. Some people need to get their facts straight and mind their own business. That monolith is gone now. Pretty good prank if you ask me.

In the book 3001, we find out that the monolith was an experiment and it kicked off the evolution of humans. Then on Europa, it does the same thing but unfortunately, the Monolith sent a message in 2001 back to its creators showing how destructive and cruel we are. The creators of the monolith were 500 light-years away and they go it in 2500 and sent a message back that reached the monolith in 3001. That message was to basically terminate the experiment. They did not know that we had changed because the message took so long.

I had a hard time like most people, understanding the end of the movie. Anyone that says they really understood it is probably full of shit. Almost nothing explains the white room or the starchild.

I had a theory on the placement of these structures and the reason I was asking about coordinates of the obelisk.  If my theory could be observed, then I would say the artist had put some good research into it otherwise its just random locations outside of my imagination. I have been too busy to plot the locations and find the subject fun compared to the daily events happening. 

The one in Romania is built differently so I don't think it could be the same artist.
