Cashless gaming---I don't like it. Too many ways to lose money. When it gets to the point casinos will no longer accept my $20 bill in the slot machines is the day I'll stop gambling.

So you go to a kiosk, put $20 on your casino card. Then you put that in the slot machine.

What's the difference?

I don’t gamble much/often but I thought it already went to a model of loading a card at a cashier or buying chips etc. surprised any machines still take cash direct now a days.

I guess you can save money by not going to Nevada anymore. Maybe the Cali Indian Casinos will still take cash.

Not much, But it can stop the impulse gambling as you walk by a slot machine. So they could be shooting themself in the foot. Plus, if I put $100 on the card, I am more likely to stop and not keep trying to chase the win.

Geo, the difference is I don't put anything on a casino card--I just shove the money straight into the slot machine. The casino does not hold any of my money except for the money I'm gambling with at the time. For those who would be loading their card via their ATM card, the Casino computer now has all your banking information. Just wait until someone hacks their system and steals all the money out of the casino held accounts---then what?

There's a guy named Dave Ramsey who talks about how people spend less when using cash (not at a casino, but in general) than when they use a credit card. When people use credit cards the money they're spending doesn't seem "real" because it's just numbers on a screen, so they spend more of it. I'm sure the owners of this new casino are very aware of this, which is why they're making the spending digital. Covid is just a happy coincidence.
