I do like the PM system to establish a connection.  After the connection is established, I then suggest a switch to email, or another means.

Maybe we should rename the PM system as a "Public Messaging" system, hinting to switch to something else for a private conversation.

Sometimes, the PM system is used for a quick discussion that is not personal, so I still see value in it.

(Plus, there is a big difference between an old ugly guy snooping in my PMs, verses a cute blonde sexy lady snooping in my PMs.)

One of the things I wrestle with is how to deal with the private messaging in a way that guarantees girls that no one will read their pms.

I could either change to another forum software that doesn't have pm capabilities or just turn it off.

Most Internet forums don't use it much and with Twitter, Instagram, and Email why would you want to chance having your private conversations read.

It has always been something no one trusts so let's just get rid of it. If girls or guys want to be contacted then they can set that in their profile. Girls have signatures anyways so why add more to the already crowded mix.

Let's Turn Off Private Messaging

I occasionally use PM systems because they enable members to easily contact one another.  Members may not have other members email addresses, so the PM system may be the only way to communicate.  However, members should use their email accounts for extremely sensitive conversations, since at least one message board's PM system is not secure.  I think the PM system should be functional, because it is a means to contact people when no other method is available.

When people sign up on a forum, they don't want other people reading their messages; they expect that their words are private.  People trust that they are not being manipulated or targeted for their thoughts and ideas and the only way to ensure this is to eliminate the system.

We talk about the client's privacy religiously but what about the ladies? Girls should be able to conduct their business without interference or harassment. Reading PMS is damaging to their business and a corrupt and unethical practice.

Members have several options:

  1. There is an option to let other members email you
  2. Put your email in the about section of your member profile.
  3. Put your Twitter account in your profile or signature
  4. Put your Instagram account in your profile or signature.

Every forum exists for a reason. Brothels have forums to generate business, and this is perfectly acceptable. They are there to help us become more successful because it's good for them. That's why they don't allow drama. They don't have much to gain by reading our posts.

There is a forum run by customers that discusses our prices, business practices and allows misogynistic posts. There are some very disgusting posts on there and pms are read. I'm glad I was banned. I will wear it as a badge of honor to be kicked off that woman-hating board.

This site was started by a working girl for working girls and customers to talk and meet each other without all that garbage, and I am willing to give up some features to make it happen.

We want to have a board that can guarantee all members privacy.

If you are going to turn off private messages please make an announcement before hand so some of us can include our email in our posts.  I don't have twitter or instagram and I found the place that would allow members to email me through the forum, and just enabled it.

If you changed forum software you would lose the posts that are already here and this would hurt the messageboard.  It is hard enough to have a start up messageboard.

Truthfully, a lot of girls are worried that I could see their messages and I don't blame them.

It's just not possible to encrypt it. I looked at hosted forum solutions but they have crazy prices. Also, many will not accept adult oriented sites.

I'm talking about sites where you have a forum and it's their software.

I’d suggest keeping it and encouraging those who choose to use it only use it for casual interaction. For more private interaction they should use the other options you have already mentioned

The way I use PMs is I tell who ever PMs me to send me a email and I give them my email address.  You wouldn't believe how many people I email with now days.

It's a trust issue with the girls. I wish I could encrypt them but I can't.

If its keeping Ladies away then turn it off. I don't see the concern if they would just refer any pm they get to their other accts ( "thank you for the message please contact me at...")but if that's too much trouble then just turn off the pm system

Yes we can but some girls want to know for sure it's private. If everyone was trustworthy then I wouldn't have to deal with this because I don't read messages. I personally don't give a shit who you're talking to.

If some ladies have expressed concern, I say turn it off.  But please let everyone know and give them a chance to change things around so to enable themselves to be emailed from the board or post their email addresses with their posts.

I am ok with leaving them on in case someone wants to reach out here. Once a connection is established I can move to email to keep everything discreet. As long as we all know they can be seen, its at our discretion and our responsibility to keep our conversations private.[/size]

To me, the answer is simply that the PM system is not private.  A private conversation is via email, or exchange of text messages, or using ham radio.

If I am in the Mustang bar, and want to have a private conversation with one lady, I don't chase everyone else out into the parking lot.  The girl and I imply go to a private corner, or to her room, or behind the stove, or up on the roof.

I am happy you all gave your opinion and a lot makes sense. I wouldn't do anything like this without getting a sense of what you think. Maybe I can add a little warning on the post form. It wouldn't be part of the message just show when you are sending.

I just want it to be clear so no one accuses me or all these dumb rumors start going around.
